Keep Your Onward Running Strong
Every 30 days, follow these steps to help prevent damage and get the most life from your Onward personal transportation vehicle.
- Check water levels.
Inspect the water level in your battery monthly. If it’s low, add distilled water only after fully charging. Some dealers may offer filtered water as an alternative.
Do not overfill and always tighten the battery caps to prevent leaks.
Note: The 30-day schedule is based on average use. If you drive more than normal, check water levels more frequently. - Keep the battery clean.
Clean the tops and terminals once a month using a mix of 1 cup baking soda per 1 gallon of water.- Avoid getting the solution inside the batteries.
- Rinse gently with a garden hose — never use a pressure washer.
- Allow the terminals to dry.
- Apply Battery Terminal Protector Spray (available from your local Authorized Club Car® Dealer).
- Make sure the battery nuts are tightened to 110 in-lbs, as outlined in your owner’s manual. Loose connections create resistance, pull more amperage, and reduce run time.
To test, move the cable side to side — if the terminal shifts, tighten immediately. - Use battery corrosion-preventative spray monthly to reduce corrosion.
- Check terminal torque.
Ensure battery nuts are properly tightened to 110 in-lbs as recommended in your owner’s manual. Loose connections can create high resistance, increase amperage draw, and shorten run time.
To test, gently move each cable side to side—if the terminal end shifts, have the nut torqued immediately.
Keep your Onward looking and performing its best:
- Check tire pressure.
Check and adjust air pressure as needed. Proper tire pressure helps extend range and reduce rolling resistance. Refer to our tire pressure guide for exact specifications. - Wash your vehicle.
Give your Onward a full wash, including the underside, to remove dirt, salt, and debris that can affect performance or appearance.
