CRU in the News: Why Industry Experts Are Paying Attention

Club Car’s CRU continues to earn recognition across the golf cart and low-speed vehicle (LSV) industry — and recent media coverage is highlighting exactly why. Far from simply upgrading a golf cart for the street, the CRU introduces a new approach to neighbourhood mobility: one that prioritises connection, comfort, and shared experiences.
In the latest article spotlighting the vehicle, reviewers emphasized that the CRU is a "purpose-built social experience on wheels," not a converted golf car or scaled-down automobile. Originally launched in 2023, and now available with new lithium battery configurations , the CRU is assembled in Augusta, Georgia.

Designed for Real Neighborhood Use
The CRU offers three powertrain configurations to fit different lifestyles and ranges:
Powertrain | Range | Battery Type |
16kW Lithium | ~53–75 miles | Maintenance-free lithium |
8kW Lithium | ~25–40 miles | Maintenance-free lithium |
Flooded Lead-Acid | ~15–20 miles | Traditional battery |
Every CRU features:
- Street-legal certification and compliance to U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 500 for Low Speed Vehicles
- Adherence to the more stringent automotive SAE J2358 standard, which includes seat belt anchorage requirements and occupant protective structure for rollover protection
- Electric power steering and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes
- 25 mph max operational speed
This means the CRU can be driven on most public roads in the U.S. with speed limits up to 35 mph, and even 45 mph in some states.
Customization to Match Your Style
With dash colour choices, seat styles, side mirror options, and other personalisation features, CRU owners can tailor the vehicle to match their neighbourhood lifestyle — from sleek modern minimalism to bold colour-forward expression.
