CLUB CAR, UNITED RENTALS HIT THE TRACK IN THE 2018 VERIZON INDYCAR SERIES
Customized Club Car Vehicle Replicates Rahal Letterman and Lanigan Team’s Car #15 Sponsored by United Rentals
Augusta, Ga. (March 22, 2018) – Club Car®, manufacturer of Carryall® work utility vehicles and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, and United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental company, announced that they have created a special transport vehicle for the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series, including the Indianapolis 500 on May 27, 2018.
As a key sponsor of the Rahal Letterman and Lanigan Team, United Rentals needed a branded transport vehicle to move VIPs around the pit and common areas of several races.
The car is a full customized Transporter™ 6 which is used by commercial clients because of its rustproof aircraft-grade aluminum frame, independent front suspension system and self-adjusting rack-and-pinion steering that deliver long life and a smooth ride. The car is red, white and blue – in the Rahal Letterman and Lanigan team colors, and has custom upholstery in the same color scheme. The United Rentals logo, imagery and the number 15 are on the back of the vehicle.
“We are pleased that United Rentals turned to Club Car and our Custom Solutions Department which brands and customizes cars for sports teams, upscale resorts, underground mines and many other applications ” said Rick Whitfield, director of custom solutions for Club Car. ““This car demonstrates what we can do, even in the short time frame of two weeks, for companies like United Rentals that need branded or customized cars. If you can dream it, we can build it.”
The car also has a decal logo of Turns for Troops, a program founded by United Rentals in 2016 to raise money for veterans. For every lap driver Graham Rahal makes in an IndyCar race, United Rentals donates $50 to SoldierStrong, a charity that helps vets get back on their feet. IndyCar fans and others can donate to the organization as well. And they can take part in a golf tournament United Rentals is sponsoring in Indianapolis during the week of the Indianapolis 500 in May. All of the proceeds go to Turns for Troops.
“The vehicle looks fabulous,” said Allison Devoe, marketing specialist at United Rentals. “The car matches our tent, jerseys and other items. Club Car’s team designed and manufactured a vehicle that represents our color scheme and brand identity. We’re all so happy with the work Club Car did.”
