AUGUSTA, GA (May 2007) – Club Car Inc. has developed two more technologies to take their XRT800 and XRT810 electric utility vehicles to the next level of performance. Developed in response to consumer demand for a quiet vehicle with more traction and power, IntelliLock and IQ Torque technologies give hunters, farmers and all outdoor enthusiasts a vehicle to fit their needs.
“A quiet, capable vehicle is what hunters have been asking for. For years, they’ve literally been jacking up golf cars with big tires to go off-road,” says Kurt Meyer, aftermarket analyst for Club Car, Inc. “While this creative solution gave them a quiet vehicle that stored all of their equipment, it fell short on the ability to climb hills and rough terrain.” Club Car’s new IntelliLock and IQ Torque technologies will offer a more reliable solution to this need.
Club Car’s IntelliLock system provides an automatic locking differential for on-demand traction, developed specifically for smaller chassis vehicles. When vehicles with open differential systems get stuck, power may be transferred to the tire with the least amount of traction. This can often result in a cycle of spinning tires, and no movement. With the IntelliLock system, the vehicle can sense tire slippage and automatically lock to increase traction. Locking (and unlocking) can occur in as little as 1/10th of a second, helping users get out of sand or mud and on their way.
To help users scale tricky terrain, Club Car has developed IQ Torque. Designed to provide a dramatic performance boost to hill climbing capabilities, this retrofit motor/controller combination generates 15 horsepower and 48 ft/lbs of torque. In addition to diversifying a vehicle’s terrain capabilities, IQ Torque provides vehicle strength to make pulling/towing tasks even easier.
IntelliLock and IQ Torque technologies are available through Club Car’s Custom Solutions department for users ordering new side-by-side electric vehicles. Both technologies are also available through Club Car dealerships as retro-fit solutions.
